Glen Durrant gelooft niet dat hij de Unibet Premier League van 2020 kan winnen. In zijn debuutjaar staat hij na een overwinning op Gary Anderson afgelopen donderdag boven aan in de League Table.
Belangrijke finishes en het snel in vorm komen van Glen Durrant heeft hem geholpen naar winst in twee van zijn drie Premier League wedstrijden tot nu. Afgelopen donderdag won hij met 7-4 van Gary Anderson.
Durrant wist in zijn debuutjaar in de PDC al twee ranking toernooien te winnen en strijd nu voor zijn eerste PDC-titel voor het oog van de camera's, maar de drievoudig BDO-wereldkampioen verwacht niet dat hij de Premier League beker in mei omhoog zal houden.
DURRANT: "I'm in a great place right now, I never thought I would be top of the Premier League at any point of my career,
Reaching the top four is a bit of a pipe dream. I don't think I can win it right now, but I'm loving every minute and I just want to keep winning.
My Premier League experience so far has been everything I hoped it would be.
I look around the practice room and I see eight huge characters, eight of the best players in the world and I'm in there with them.
I consider Gary to be in the top three players of all time so to beat him is an unbelievable feeling.
My combination finishing is my biggest strength; on finishes between 81 and 119 I think I'm up there with the best in the world.
I wish I was bullish and say 'I'm going to finish in the top four' but that's not the person I am.
I still just want to avoid being eliminated so that will be my focus until I achieve that goal."
Komende donderdag speelt Durrant in een uitverkochte 3Arena in Dublin tegen Nathan Aspinall, die net als hij zijn debuutjaar heeft in de Premier League en ook winst behaalde afgelopen donderdag, hij won met 7-5 van Michael van Gerwen.
