Glen Durrant heeft met enthousiasme gesproken over zijn deelname aan het PDC-circuit over de komende twee jaar nadat hij afgelopen weekend zijn PDC Tour Card veilig stelde.
De drie-voudig Lakeside kampioen behoorde tot de dertien spelers die afgelopen zondag hun Tour Card veilig stelde op de laatste dag van de UK Q-School van 2019.
Rankingpunten werden over vier dagen aan spelers toegekend voor elke gewonnen wedstrijd, de besten op deze lijst kregen een Tour Card. Durrant behoorde tot de elf spelers die deze Tour Card kregen. Voor Durrant was het de eerste keer dat hij deelnam aan de Q-School.
De voormalig kwartfinalist op de Grand Slam of Darts won zijn derde Lakeside titel maar vier dagen voordat hij zijn debuut maakte op de Q-School. Het bleek een perfecte januari voor de man uit Cleveland.
DURRANT: "This is as good as winning the Lakeside Championship,
I'm so happy and relieved to get through because there was so much pressure on me to do this.
When I looked around the venue I noticed that a lot of people were watching my matches, and I also put a lot of pressure on myself.
Thankfully I got the job done and I'm immensely proud of what I've achieved. Now I'm looking forward to my exciting future with the PDC."
De 48-jarige Engelsman verspeelde geen tijd voordat hij zijn PDC-debuut ging maken en maakte meteen een goede start op het professionele circuit.
DURRANT: "I need to work on getting out the traps a little bit quicker, but short format matches are nothing new to me,
One of my big ambitions is to play at Blackpool's Winter Gardens, that would be another dream come true for me as it's somewhere I've always thought looks like a special place to play at.
I'm so excited about what the future holds and I'll be giving everything 100 per cent so that I can achieve as much as I possibly can.
Over the next couple of weeks I will be playing in exhibitions with the likes of Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor, and it will be a great feeling to play in them as a PDC professional."
De eerste kans voor Durrant om zich in de PDC-rankings op te werken is op 9 februari tijdens het eerste Players Championship toernooi van 2019 in Wigan.
