PDC-scheidsrechter Huw Ware begint blog ''Tops and Tales''

Het Paddy Power World Darts Championship is op gang gekomen en de grootste namen in de sport strijden om de Sid Waddell Trophy.

Regerend kampioen Luke Humphries heeft zijn plaats in ronde drie al veilig gesteld, net als voormalig kampioenen Gerwyn Price en Peter Wright. James Wade en Mike de Decker verloren al vroegtijdig in de Engelse hoofdstad.

Het blijft nog steeds de vraag wie de titel zal winnen op 3 januari, maar één man die zeker is van een plaats in de latere fasen van het toernooi, is PDC-scheidsrechter Huw Ware.

Huw zal voor het eerst het hele World Darts Championship als scheidsrechter aantreden en hij zal zijn ervaringen delen in zijn nieuwe blog ''Tops and Tales'' op zijn gloednieuwe website, die vorige week de lucht in ging.

The World Championship is here, and I’m refereeing the very first match of the tournament between Thibault Tricole and Joe Comito!

Lots of nerves for the curtain-raiser, but Thibault goes through and my work is done for the night, apart from second refereeing the last game.

Then from Day Two up until Christmas, the officials split into two teams. One team has George Noble and Charlie Corstorphine as referees with Charlie Gardner and Mark Walker as markers.

The other team has myself and Kirk Bevins as referees, with Andrew Davies and Scott Gibling as markers.

Each team does two sessions "on" and two sessions "off", so Team George/Charlie cover Day Two afternoon session after the opening night, which means my team come in to do Day Two evening and Day Three afternoon and so on. 

It works really well because it means we can leave the venue to have some down time to do Christmas shopping, have a drink, something to eat and just generally relax, away from what is a very full-on and intense tournament.

After Christmas, when there are only three matches per session, we'll be in every session!
